The British Ragdoll Cat Club
9th Championship Show

Saturday 8th January 2011

This year we were back to our usual time slot in January.  The weather was kinder to us this time around – that is if you don’t count the postal chaos during the frost and snow in December, when entries were being received – or not as the case may be. At least two entry forms took in excess of two weeks to arrive and one member was disappointed to discover his entry didn’t arrive at all!!

Committee members again arrived early on Friday afternoon, and all was ready by 5pm. Back at the hotel the judges were arriving and a convivial evening ensued.

Show day went quite smoothly, there were no certificates withheld and the judges made positive comments about the cats, they were particularly pleased with the impressive adult male exhibits – the future of any breed.  It was just a shame that our members from Scotland had to leave in the early afternoon due to heavy snowfall and possible road closures ‘north of the border’.  The general atmosphere was one of friendliness and fun – with of course a small measure of competitiveness and anticipation.

2011 saw the first Young Exhibitors Scheme class held at the show, there were two entrants in the novice class, congratulations to Faye & Matthew, both of whom impressed the judge with their knowledge and handling of the cats.

Two members tried their hands at stewarding for the first time – Jayne and Roger, I am sure both will continue to build on this new experience and may eventually go on to join the judges scheme.
